#6 Metro State Edges Out Cowgirls 1-0

The NMHU Soccer team played two games this weekend, one on the road and one at home. They came out of the weekend 0-2 but had some successes during the weekend. The Cowgirls first traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. on 10/16 to take on the UCCS Mountain Lions. The Cowgirls would eventually fall to UCCS 3-0. The Cowgirls then played host to #6 Metro State College on 10/18. The Cowgirls held the national powerhouse to a 0-0 first period but would eventually fall by a final of 1-0.

In the net for the Cowgirls as they took on UCCS was Lauren Waite. Waite would rack up 90 minutes of playing time as she played the entire game. Waite notched 7 saves with 3 goals allowed. The Cowgirls had 10 shots with 5 on goal while the Mountain Lions had 19 shots with 10 on goal.

The Cowgirls then played host to the Metro University Roadrunners on 10/18 at Perkins Stadium. The Cowgirls lost by a heart breaking 1-0 to the number six team in nation for NCAA Division II.

Shannon Delarosbil played in the net for the Cowgirls for the entire game and had 4 saves with only one goal allowed. The only goal for the Roadrunners came from a penalty kick in the second half.

The Cowgirls Offense had a hard time getting past the Roadrunners defenders as they had no shots during the games while the Roadrunners had 15, with 5 on goal.

The Cowgirls will host the Adams State Grizzlies on 10/23 at Perkins Stadium at 3:00pm as they take part in the Kickin’ & Diggin’ for the Cure weekend. Wear your pink and help your Cowgirls support Breast Cancer Awareness.
