Cowgirls Drop Two Close Games
The NMHU Women’s soccer team resumed RMAC play after a one game break. The Cowgirls travelled to RMAC rival, Mesa State College to take on the Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colo. on 10/2. The Cowgirls lost a heartbreaker to the Mavericks with a score of 1-0. The Cowgirls would then take on the nationally ranked #18 Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College. The young Cowgirls fought hard but would eventually fall to Fort Lewis by a final score of 2-0.
Lauren Waite was in the net for the Cowgirls as they took on the Mavericks of Mesa State College. Waite played the entire game and had 5 saves with 1 goal allowed. The Cowgirls only had 6 shots, 4 of which were on goal. The Mavericks had sixteen shots with 6 on goal.
The Cowgirls then played host to the #18 Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College. The Cowgirls stood their own against the tough RMAC team as they lost 2-0. Waite again played the entire game in the net for the Cowgirls and had 6 saves with 2 goals allowed. The Skyhawks scored 1 goal in each period. The Cowgirls had 8 shots with 4 on goal while the Skyhawks had 16 shots with 8 shots on goal.
The Cowgirls are now 2-5 in RMAC play and look to change that as they host the University of Colorado- Colorado Springs on 10/9 at 3 pm.
