Cowgirls Sign Texas Backcourt

Katlyn Mary

The NMHU Cowgirls basketball team is excited to announce the signing of two very talented athletes from the lone star state. Raely Parada (5’7; Fr.; G; El Paso, Texas) and Katlyn Mary (5’7”; Fr.; G; Joshua, Texas) will be in the backcourt for the Cowgirls this upcoming season. Coach Darling and staff are very proud to have these two young women join their basketball family.

“Both of these young women will bring an added dimension to our team. They are both very accomplished athletes that can score at will” says Coach Darling of her Texas signees.


Raely Parada

Raely Parada is a gifted athlete that should contribute to the Cowgirls lineup immediately. She is a talented athlete that can score off the dribble and make plays. Parada was a First Team All 1-4A District selection as well as was named to the El Paso Times All-City Team in her senior season. Parada averaged 14.3 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game and 2.9 steals per game in her final year at Burges HS. Parada was also named to the All-Academic First Team in District 1-4A. Parada is also a multi-year member of the National Honor Society.

“Raely (Parada) is a great shooting guard, she can knock down the three consistently as well as score off the dribble. I am looking forward to having Raely at NMHU for the next four years” says Coach Darling of Parada.


Katlyn Mary

Katlyn Mary is a sharpshooting guard from Joshua HS in Joshua, Texas. Mary is a seasoned veteran with as she has made basketball her life. After her season is done at JHS, she then hits the hardwood with her summer AAU team the DFW Lady Lakers. Mary has averaged nearly 100 games per summer with her AAU team and it shows. In three summers with the Lady Lakers she has averaged 18.0 points per game, 4.0 steals per game, 5.0 assists per game as well as shot 45% from the three-point line and 55% from the field. She is also good at the charity stripe with an 85% free throw percentage. Mary is a three time First Team All District 8-4A selection for JHS as well as a First Team All County selection and an All-Tournament Team selection at several prestigious events.

“Katlyn (Mary) is a confident player that can flat out shoot the ball. Her experience with her AAU squad will help her as she competes for a spot on the floor for my Cowgirls this upcoming season. I am looking forward to seeing these young ladies (Mary and Parada) play for the purple and white” says Coach Darling.
