NMHU Baseball Nationally Ranked in NCAA Statistics
The NMHU Baseball program continues to bring in the accolades as the Cowboys finished the season nationally ranked in the top 10 in many categories and lead the nation in two categories. The Cowboys have always been an offensive powerhouse and the stats from the Cowboys 2009 season show it.
The Cowboys enjoyed a very successful 2009 as they earned a trip to the NCAA Central Region Tournament and ended up with a Runner-Up finish in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. En route to their remarkable season the Cowboys (39-21) put up tremendous numbers throughout the season. After all was said and done for the 2009 season the Cowboys were left at the top of two categories as they are the national leaders in Batting Average (.377) and Doubles per Game (3.02). Other national ranking for the Cowboys include: Total Doubles (2nd; 181), Total Hits (3rd; 773), Total Runs Scored (3rd; 582), Scoring (4th; 9.7 Runs per Game), Batters Hit by Pitch (7th; 98) and Slugging Percentage (10th; .563).
“This was an awesome year for us. The guys played hard all season long and they deserve these honors. I can’t wait till next season” said NMHU Head Coach Steve Jones of his team finished the season nationally ranked in so many categories.
