Cougars Slip By Cowgirls 2-1
The NMHU Cowgirl Soccer team played host to the Colorado Christian University Cougars at Perkins Stadium on 9/20. The Cowgirls fell to the Cougars in a close game with a score of 2-1.
Lauren Waite was in the net for the Cowgirls for the whole game and had three saves with 2 goals allowed.
The Cowgirls had a ball in the net in the first half but there was a call by the officials that overturned the goal. In the second half, Cowgirl Heidi Nakaoka scored on an assist from the corner kick by Stephanie Devisser and Kimberly Hutchings. This was the first goal the CCU goalie had given up this season.
The Cowgirls played a tough second half as they did not allow the Cougars to score in the second period of play. The Cowgirls had control of the ball for most of the second period.
The young Cowgirls are now 1-2 in RMAC play and will travel to CSU-Pueblo to take on the Thunderwolves for the second time on 9/23 and then will travel to the University of Nebraska- Kearney on 9/25 to take on the Lopers.
