The NMHU Cowgirls basketball team played host to the Metro State College Roadrunners at the John A. Wilson Complex on 1/ 15. Despite efforts made by the Cowgirls for most of the game the Roadrunners came away with the win, 68-55. The Cowgirls are now 1-5 in RMAC play.
The Cowgirls were in the lead for the most of the game until the six minute mark when the Roadrunners took the lead and didn’t look back. The Roadrunners had 17 of their points from turnovers while the Cowgirls only managed 10 points from turnovers.
Leading the Cowgirls offense was senior
Jessica Armijo with 17 points. Add in two rebounds and three steals and Armijo was the Cowgirls go to player on the court. Following suit was freshman
Whitney Poloskywith 13 points, two rebounds and two steals.
Ashley Logan led the Cowgirls defense with seven rebounds and added five points to the Cowgirls’ tally. Another force on the defense was
Amanda Beauchamp with four rebounds.
The Cowgirls will now play host to the Regis University Rangers on 1/16 with tipoff at 6 pm in the John A. Wilson Complex.
