The NMHU Cowboy Football program is pleased to announce their 2010 recruiting class. The Cowboys will be adding 16 new Cowboys to their roster in the fall along with 12 mid-year transfers. All 16 of the Cowboys signees are freshmen from the states of Texas, California and Washington. Coach Roanhaus and staff have been working tirelessly throughout the spring to bring in not only talented athletes, but people of character.

“I am very pleased with this year’s class. Its year three for my staff and I and we have developed great relationships throughout the country and that have helped with our recruiting. I am excited for these new athletes and the immediate impact they will be able to make on our program” said Cowboy Head Coach Chad Roanhaus of his 2010 signing class.

First off, the Coach Roanhaus and staff concentrated most of their recruiting efforts on their offensive and defensive lines. On the offensive front the Cowboys have added in three solid offensive line men that should help add to the depth on the O-Line. The three freshmen hail from the great state of Texas. Dalton Carter (6’3”; 275; Amarillo, Texas; Amarillo HS), Jacob Brink (6’0”; 245; Plains, Texas; Plains HS) and Blake Johnstone (6’3”; 260; San Antonio, Texas; Boerne Champion HS) all look to be great additions to the Cowboys front five.

“All three of these offensive line recruits have things we look for in O-Linemen, great feet, great work ethic and a passion to play the position. They all come to us with many high school honors and have all played for successful programs” said Cowboy Head Coach Chad Roanhaus of his O-Line signees.

On the defensive front the Cowboys have added five Defensive Linemen to the mix. Marvin Rice (6’4”; 250; Ontario, Calif.; Colony HS), Nick Bustos (6’1”; 265; Amarillo, Texas; Randall HS), Brandon Rey (5’11”; 240; El Paso, Texas; Bel Air HS), Tyler Rynehart (6’3”; 245; El Paso, Texas; Tascosa HS) and Greg Todd (6’3”; 275; Ontario, Calif.; Colony HS) will all make great additions to the Cowboys defensive front.

“All of these five have great motors. They all play fast and hard and will fill some holes on our defensive line. Every single one of these guys has a chance to make an immediate impact on our defensive line” said Roanhaus of his newest defensive additions.

Offensively the Cowboys have also added quarterback Taylor Brown (6’0”; 180; San Antonio, Texas; O’Conner HS), running back Brandon Robertson (5’10; 190; Long Beach, Calif.; Wilson HS), wide receiver Dalton Koller (5’9”; 165; Amarillo, Texas; Amarillo HS) and tight end Joe McDaniel (6’6”; 225; Puyallup, Wash.; Emerald Ridge HS).

“Taylor (Brown) is a smart, athletic quarterback who knows how to win. He will compete in our system. Brandon (Robertson) is a great athlete with good speed and strength. Dalton (Koller) is a speedy receiver that will look to play the slot position for us in the future. Joe (McDaniel) is a great athlete with awesome size and athleticism that will help us at the tight end position” says Coach Roanhaus of his skill players.

Defensively the Cowboys have added four great athletes during the signing period. Linebackers Taylor Roberson (6’2”; 200; Elgin, Texas; Lexington HS), Ed Todd (6’1”; 240; Ontario, Calif.; Colony HS) and Ivan Casteneda (6'1"; 190; Amarillo, Texas; Amarillo HS).  Defensive Back Conner Embry (5’10”; 170; San Antonio, Texas; Boerne Champion HS) and athlete Tyler Puschman (6’1”; 200; Amarillo, Texas; Arbor Christian HS) will all be reporting in the fall.

“Taylor (Roberson),  Ed (Todd)  and Ivan (Casteneda) are all outstanding linebackers that will make an immediate impact for our defense. Conner (Embry)is a very athletic safety with some linebacker experience. He will be a great asset to the HU secondary. Tyler (Puschman) is a great athlete that we will be able to put anywhere on the field “says Coach Roanhaus of his signees.
