The NMHU Cowboys traveled into Pueblo, Colo. on 2/2 and came away with a win as they dropped RMAC rival CSU-Pueblo 88-75. The Cowboys rode a second half surge to pull away from the Thunderwolves for good as they cruised to their fourth straight win in as many games. The Cowboys are now 13-7 on the season and 7-5 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will take the court again on 2/6 when they host in-state RMAC rival Western New Mexico University.
The Cowboys shot the lights out as they finished the night with a 51% shooting percentage. The Cowboys would pull away by as much as 13 points at one point in the second half to cement the win and solidify their place as one of the top teams in the RMAC.
“This is a great win against a very talented and athletic Pueblo team. We need to keep riding this wave and continue playing our brand of basketball if we want to be RMAC Champs” said
NMHU Head Coach Joe Harge of the Cowboys fourth straight win of the season.
Leading scorer for the Cowboys was
Roman Andrade. Andrade finished with 28 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Other outstanding performers for the Cowboys include:
Rashad Peterson and
Chris Dunn. Peterson finished the night with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot. Dunn was a defensive presence in the middle for the Cowboys as he finished the night with 10 points, seven rebounds, one blocked shot and two steals.
The Cowboys will hit the hardwood again on 2/6 when they play host to in-state RMAC rival Western New Mexico University. Tip-off is set for 8:00pm in the John A. Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, N.M.
