#22 Cowboys Drop Mavericks 8-3
Vassil Earns Fifth Straight Win
The #22 NMHU Cowboys continue to ride high as they continue their winning ways with an 8-3 win over the Mesa State Mavericks on 3/5. The Cowboys fell behind early but would take back the lead from their RMAC rival with a huge six run fourth inning to seal their eleventh win of the season and their fourth straight RMAC victory. The Cowboys will conclude their RMAC series with Mesa State College on 3/6 with a double header starting at 11:00am in Las Vegas, N.M.
On the mound for the Cowboys was
Drew Vassil (5-0). Vassil pitched a complete game for the Cowboys and would allow zero earned runs in his nine innings pitched. Vassil would record five strikeouts in the win.
Offensive leaders for the Cowboys include:
David Bustillos,
Oscar Sigala and
Thomas DeAngelis. Bustilos would go two of four with two runs scored, one RBI and one double. Sigala would finish the day going two of four with two RBI’s and two doubles. DeAngelis would round out the top three going two of three with one run scored and one double.
The Cowboys will try to complete their second RMAC series sweep in a row on 3/6 as they take on RMAC rival Mesa State College in a double header starting at 11:00am in Las Vegas, N.M.
