Three Cowboys Earn Academic All- American Honors

The National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced their Academic All-American list for the 2009-2010 season. The 2009-10 Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team consists of 133 student-athletes from 32 universities and colleges. In order to be nominated for the Division II All-Academic Team, each athlete is required to have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. He must also be in at least in his second full year at his school, be a varsity member on his team or a key reserve, demonstrate a degree of skill and have a minimum of two letters of recommendation submitted on his behalf.

Three Cowboys were honored for their academic achievements. Cowboys Donovan Troup, Jarrod Purvis, and Jesse Boggs were named to the list. This is the second time both Troup and Boggs have earned this award.

Troup wrestled at 133 lbs for the Cowboys and finished his season with a record of 8-16. Purvis wrestled at 165 lbs for the Cowboys and earned a sixth place finish at the RMAC/ Regional Wrestling tournament. He finished his season with a record of 10-14 and recorded one fall. Boggs finished his career at the NCAA Division II tournament as he qualified after placing third at the RMAC/ Regional tournament in the heavyweight division. His season record was 18-13 and he had seven falls.
