The NMHU Football team concluded their spring practices on 4/24 with their annual Purple vs. Black Scrimmage in Perkins Stadium. The Cowboys had about 200 people show up for the event. Family, friends, alumni and Cowboy Football recruits all showed up for the scrimmage and had a great time. The Cowboys showed great improvement on both sides of the ball. The offense and the defense traded blows throughout the 60 play scrimmage.
“I’m very pleased with how our spring ball went. Both sides of the ball grew throughout and we finished on a great note heading into the summer” said NMHU Head Coach Chad Roanhaus of his Cowboys spring practices.
Offensively the Cowboys moved the ball well both on the ground and in the air. Running Backs
Brandon Torres and
Eric Dyer both had solid days for the Cowboys.
Anthony Ratliff and
Marcus Washington both excelled in the wide receiver position for the Cowboys as well.
Defensively the Cowboys had a solid day as an entire unit. Linebacker
Marc Robinson excelled for the Cowboys as he filled holes and caused fits for the Cowboy offense at times during the 60 play scrimmage.
The Cowboys will kick off their 2010 season in Las Vegas, N.M. as they play host to Lone Star Conference opponent Midwestern State University on 9/2 at 7:00 pm in Perkins Stadium.
