Cowboy baseballers
Jason Carr and
David Bustillos have been named to the Daktronics Baseball All-America teams. Carr, a Mr. Everything for the Cowboys in the 2010 season, was named to the Daktronics All-America First Team and Bustillos received All-American Honorable Mention honors for his efforts in the 2010 season. The Cowboys finished ranked 6th in NCAA DII and with a final record of 41-13 in the 2010 season. The Cowboys also finished the regular season ranked #1 in the Central Region and earned the right to host the NCAA Central Regional for the first time in NMHU history.
“This is a great honor for both of these guys (Carr and Bustillos). They were leaders throughout the season and played big roles for us. They deserve this honor” said NMHU Head Coach Steve Jones of his latest All-Americans.
Carr finished the season with .449 batting average, 16 doubles, 25 homeruns (a new NMHU single season record) and a .941 slugging percentage. Carr was named the RMAC Player of the Year as well as First Team All-RMAC. Carr was also named to the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team and was named the Central Region Player of the Year. He was named to the Rawlings / ABCA All-Central Region First Team as well as the ABCA/Rawlings Central Region Gold Glove Second Team.
Bustillos finished the season with a .401 batting average, 20 doubles and five homeruns. Bustillos also finished with a .971 fielding percentage. Bustillos was named to the All-RMAC First Team, the Rawlings / ABCA All-Central Region First Team, the Rawlings / ABCA Central Region Gold Glove First Team and the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team.
