RMAC Trio
#11 Jason Carr, Head Coach Steve Jones and #32 Drew Vassil
The 2010 RMAC Baseball Awards might as well have been called the NMHU Baseball Awards as the Cowboys swept the top three awards in RMAC Baseball. NMHU claimed RMAC Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year Honors. Jason Carr was named the RMAC Player of the Year; Drew Vassil was named the Pitcher of the Year; and NMHU Head Coach Steve Jones was named the RMAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his 13 years at NMHU. The Cowboys had a total of seven athletes named to the All-RMAC First Team and two Cowboys also received Second Team Honors. The Cowboys are currently the #1 seed in the RMAC Tournament and #1 in the NCAA Central Region. The Cowboys finished the 2010 regular season with a 35-10 overall record and a 25-6 RMAC record.

Jason Carr earned his RMAC Player of the Year status with his stupendous 2010 performance. Carr finished the season leading the RMAC in Batting Average (.464), Slugging Percentage (.954), On Base Percentage (.562), RBI’s (72), Homeruns (20), Total Bases (146) and Walks (34). Carr’s 20 homeruns came in 45 games and broke the NMHU homeruns record in the process.

Drew Vassil (12-1) was untouchable all season as he ran through opponents like a buzz saw. Vassil ended the 2010 regular season leading the RMAC in Batters Struck Out (67) and Wins (12). Vassil was named the RMAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year in the 2010 season as well.

The Cowboys nearly swept the First Team All-RMAC selections as seven of the nine infield positions were all Cowboys. First Team selections for the Cowboys include: Jason Carr (First Base), David Bustillos (Second Base), Oscar Sigala (Third Base), Kyle Gutchewsky (Short Stop), Christian Garcia(Outfield), Danny Brown (Outfield) and Drew Vassil (Starting Pitcher). Bustillos, Garcia and Vassil were all unanimous selections by the RMAC.

Second Team selections include: Phillip Rodriguez(Catcher) and Trent Evins (Starting Pitcher).
