The #7 NMHU Cowboys ran through the Regis Rangers on 5/5 by a final score of 18-4. With the win the Cowboys will advance to the second round of the RMAC Tournament to take on the Metro State Roadrunners. The Cowboys are now 36-10 on the year. The Cowboys will take the field again on 5/6 at 3:00 pm CST in Kearney, Neb.
The Cowboys jumped out early on the Rangers with a two run homerun by
Jason Carr and just kept piling it on as the Cowboys would cruise to the 18-4 win. The Cowboys batted .380 as a team against the Rangers and racked up four doubles and four homeruns in the win.
Getting the win for the Cowboys on the mound was
Danny Brown. Brown allowed just three runs on three hits in five and two-third innings pitched while recording five strikeouts. Coming in for relief of Brown was
Derek Grieve. Grieve allowed no runs on no hits in one and one-third innings pitched and recorded two strikeouts.
Andrew Herrman came in next and allowed just one runs on two hits in one inning pitched while recording one strikeout.
Tyler Wichmann came in to close out the game and allowed no runs on no hits and recorded one strikeout in one inning pitched.
Outstanding players for the Cowboys include: Jason Carr,
Christian Garcia and Danny Brown. Carr finished the day going 2-3 with four runs scored, three RBI’s, one double and one homerun. Garcia finished the day going 2-5 with one run scored, one RBI, one double and one homerun. Brown rounds out the top three going 3-5 with three runs scored, three RBI’s and one homerun.
The Cowboys will take the field again on 5/6 as they take on the Metro State Roadrunners at 3:00 pm CST in Kearney, Neb. in the second round of the RMAC Tournament.
