The Cowboys started out the series slow as they dropped the first game 12-8 but would rebound in the Saturday double header as they swept the Roadrunners by scores of 8-4 and 4-1 respectively. The Cowboys are off to a great start as they are now 16-5 on the season and 7-2 in RMAC play. This is the first ever NCAA National Championship for NMHU in any sport. Wright's victory came as he went 4-0 for the tournament. Wright&rsquo;s first victory came over Augustana&rsquo;s Alex Meger with a 10-8 decision. The Cowboys started out on fire as they ran with the Vikings for the first minutes of the ball game but would not be able to keep up as the Vikings sharpshooters racked up the points, helping them advance to the semi-finals. The Cowgirls came away with two wins on the day as they head into another double header against the Orediggers on 3/13. The Cowgirls are now 9-6 overall and 5-1 in RMAC play. The Cowgirls are off to the best start in recent years and are making strides through the RMAC. The Cowgirls won the series taking three of the four games. This is the first RMAC series the Cowgirls have won since Head Coach Shellie Broyles took to the helm in the 2008 season. The Cowgirls took game one in convincing fashion with a 13-4 score. Leading the Cowgirls to their first win on the weekend was freshman pitcher Melissa Martinez. She pitched the entire six innings and recorded 13 strikeouts. The Cowboys had won the first game of the series on 3/5 by a final score of 8-3 and would fall in game two 21-4 but would rebound and get the series win 18-4 in game two on 3/6. The Cowboys would then play the Mavericks in a non-RMAC game on 3/7 and fall 12-8. The Cowboys are now 12-4 on the season and 5-1 in RMAC play.
