Both coaches have had unsurpassed success at NMHU over their careers at the institution. Coach Jones boasts a .578 winning percentage and an overall record of 421-307 in his 13 year career at NMHU. Carr, a Mr. Everything for the Cowboys in the 2010 season, was named to the Daktronics All-America First Team and Bustillos received All-American Honorable Mention honors for his efforts in the 2010 season. The Cowboys finished ranked 6th in NCAA DII and with a final record of 41-13 in the 2010 season. The Cowboys, the tournament host, finish the tournament with a 2-2 record and a 2010 overall record of 41-13. The 2010 Cowboys broke many records this past season, most notably being ranked #1 in the Central Region and hosting the NCAA Central Regional Tournament for the first time in NMHU history. NMHU Head Coach Steve Jones broke NMHU&rsquo;s All-Time win record and became the All-Time Winningest Coach in NMHU History. After the Cowboys&rsquo; victory, the #3 seeded Mavericks were eliminated from the tournament. Earning the win on the mound for the Cowboys was Danny Brown. He walked and struck out three Mavericks in 5.1 innings pitched. He is now 6-2 on the season. Tyler Shaddy earned the save, his third of the season, as he had two strikeouts in one inning. The #1 seeded Cowboys were stunned by the St. Cloud State Huskies in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional as they fell 11-2 on 5/13. The Cowboys will now wait to see who they will face on 5/15 in the 3:00 pm game. The Cowboys will face sixth seed St. Cloud State (37-15). Nebraska-Kearney received their first ever at-large bid. The Lopers (36-18) are the fifth seed in the tournament and will play second seed Minnesota State-Mankato (40-13). The Cowboys claimed the regular season championship with a win over the Mavericks on 4/23 so it seems fitting that the Cowboys claim the RMAC Tournament Championship over the Mavericks after a hard fought game between the two RMAC powerhouses. Both teams played extremely well throughout the tournament and gave the fans in Kearney, Neb. a showcase of RMAC Baseball. The Cowboys are now 39-11 thus far in the 2010 season and now wait to see who and where they will be playing in the NCAA Central Regional. The Cowboys have already won the RMAC Regular Season Championship, when the beat the Mavericks in Grand Junction, Colo. by a score of 15-8 on 4/23. The Cowboys would jump out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Lopers would answer back with a big three run third inning in which the Cowboys answered back with one run in the bottom of the third to tie it up at three runs apiece. The Lopers would take the lead late in the seventh inning 4-3, but the Cowboys would again answer back with three runs of their won in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win and their spot in the RMAC Championship Game for the fourth year straight.
